Dear McMichael Families,

I am excited to welcome everyone back to Morton McMichael School on August 25th for what marks my 10th year as a leader in our wonderful community! It has been an incredible journey of learning, growth, and transformation—and I’m honored to continue this work alongside such dedicated educators, students, and families.

Our school’s motto, “Empowerment at Every Stage,” continues to guide us as we focus on Building Confidence, Character, and Community in every student. These three pillars shape everything we do—both in and beyond the classroom.

Our youngest learners, the K–2 Dreamers, are encouraged to explore, imagine, and believe in their boundless potential. Through play, creativity, and curiosity, they are building the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

Our 3–5 Achievers are developing independence, setting goals, and discovering the power of perseverance. These students are learning what it means to take pride in their accomplishments and support one another through collaboration and empathy.

Our 6–8 Leaders serve as role models for the entire school. They take on greater responsibility, demonstrate school pride, and prepare to transition into young adulthood with integrity and confidence. Their voices matter, and their leadership helps shape our school culture.

And our courageous Champions in Special Education continue to inspire us all with their strength, resilience, and unwavering determination. Their achievements remind us that every student can succeed when given the right tools, support, and encouragement.

As we begin this new academic year, I invite all of you—students, families, staff, and community partners—to join me in creating a school environment where every child feels seen, heard, and empowered. Let’s continue building a legacy of excellence together. I look forward to another year of growth, joy, and success with all of you.

With gratitude and anticipation,

Dr. Dollette Johns-Smith
Principal, Morton McMichael School
